About Matt
Matt has been a resident of the Hoosier State his whole life.
Coming from a large catholic family of eleven children, Matt has
been married to his wife, Lori, for 24 years.
Family Man
Matt and his Wife Lori reside in Greene County. They have
two children, August and Ross, aged 21 and 17 respectively. Matt is
an active member of Right to Life. Matt's wife Lori volunteers at
the Pregnancy Choices Center in Linton, Ind.
In the church, Matt has served as the president, vice president,
and a member of the finance committee at St. Peters Parish in
Linton. Matt is an active member at St. Peters, and he also attends
church services with his wife Lori at Linton First Christian Church. Matt
also attended the Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus, #25.
Working Man
Working in the coal mines for over 33 years, Matt understands hard work; not only
what it means to him, but what it means to those he works with, and
those in the community overall. Starting his coal mining career
as a heavy equipment operator, Matt is an accomplished operator.
At the age of 21, Matt began serving as a supervisor.
For the last 18 years Matt has been an Operations Manager for
Peabody Energy. During this time he as won several awards including:
- 3 State Reclamation Awards
- 3 National Reclamation Awards
- 3 Annual Presidents Awards for Safety, with zero reportable
injuries.
- Numerous Holmes Safety Awards.
- He also serves as a member of the Indiana Coal Council.
Outdoorsman
Matt is a hunter, and lives on a farm with
roughly three hundred acres. Matt likes to hunt wild game as
well as go fishing whenever the opportunity arises.
